De Gleditsia triacanthos ‘Sunburst’ is een sierlijke, middelgrote boom met opvallend geel uitlopend blad in het voorjaar. Het fijne, dubbelgeveerde blad geeft de boom een luchtige uitstraling en zorgt in de zomer voor lichte, gefilterde schaduw. In de herfst verkleurt het blad goudgeel. Deze doornloze cultivar is onderhoudsvriendelijk, goed windbestendig en zeer geschikt voor lanen, parken, pleinen en tuinen.
