Celtis occidentalis

Celtis occidentalis is een middelgrote tot grote boom uit Noord-Amerika, bekend om zijn sterke groei, brede kroon en kleine eetbare steenvruchten. Het blad lijkt op dat van een iep, met een gezaagde rand en een scheve bladvoet. In de herfst kleurt het geel. De bast is grijs met kurklijsten, wat de boom een robuust uiterlijk geeft. De vruchten trekken vogels aan en maken de soort interessant voor parken, lanen en voedselbossen.
