Acer cappadocicum ‘Rubrum’ is een opvallende middelgrote esdoorn met een dichte, ronde kroon en een spectaculaire rood uitlopende bladkleur in het voorjaar, die later donkergroen wordt en in de herfst weer intens geel tot oranje kleurt. De soort stamt af van de Kaukasische esdoorn (Acer cappadocicum) en is vooral geschikt voor parken, brede lanen en pleinen.
